1. Function analysis of genes involved in foxtail millet spike development.
2. Characterization of genes involved in foxtail millet drought resistance
Teaching and Research Projects
I teach several courses including gene cloning, bioinformatics and biotechnology. My recent project is to clone the main genes which control foxtail millet bristle length. We have constructed F2 segregating population using long bristle and short bristle foxtail millet. The bulked-segregant analysis sequencing (BSA-Seq) protocol is used to quickly identify the candidate single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Several genes have been selected and the function identifications is in process.
